NTVT009 – Sound Quality

We have a winner!

The listeners have spoken and they’ve chosen the music which will be the theme tune for this podcast.

And while we’re talking about music, let’s broaden that out to include sound in general…

…in my opinion, the sound quality of a video is as important, if not, more important than the image quality of a video.

In this episode, I explain why – and I attempt what seems to be the impossible: describing something that it’s far better and easier to demonstrate!ย  By which, I mean, I give some tips on how you can get better audio in your videos ๐Ÿ™‚

If you’d like more non-techie video tips but in video form, and delivered right to your inbox, head over to https://elitevideoacademy.com/non-techie-videos

On the other hand, if you’d prefer to dive deeper (but still keeping it non-techie!) and discover much more that will help you explore the world of video making, then you should check out my brand new non-techie video course Elite Video Creation 101 here https://elitevideoacademy.com/evc101

Oh! And here’s the credit for the winning track…

NTVT008 – Music – and time to vote!

Thinking of using your favourite track as backing music for your video?

You might want to think again – at least if you want to avoid a costly legal battle.

Don’t despair, though – there’s plenty of great music around you can use without falling foul of the law – and a lot of it is available for absolutely free!

In this episode, I tell you about two places you can find great music that is going to fit most purposes.

Here are the links you’ll need to find the tracks:

and

http://incompetech.com

PLUS! It’s today that you get to vote on your favourite (yes, that’s how we spell it in the UK!) track from the last seven episodes.ย  I play a snatch of all 7 tracks – all you have to do is decide which you like best, then drop me an email telling me which one it is to ozzy at elitevideoacademy dot com (apologies for the long-winded way of writing that – trying to beat the bots ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Remember – if you’d like to get a bunch of free non-techie video tips delivered right to your inbox, head over to https://EliteVideoAcademy.com/non-techie-videos – leave your details in the box and the rest up to me.

NTVT007 – Which lens?

This one is specifically for folks who record their video on their smartphones – so, if you use a compact camera or full-on DSLR, you can sit this one out if you prefer.

But, if you do, you’ll always have that nagging feeling at the back of your mind …

…you’ll forever ask yourself “What did I miss?” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Most, if not all smartphones these days are equipped with two lenses for taking photos or shooting video – but which lens should you use?

I’ve got an answer for you, but it might not be the one you expect…

This episode is also the final one where we’ll be testing out some new music as a candidate for the theme tune for the show – at least for the time being.

In the next show, I’ll play a reminder of all the tunes we’ve had so far and I’ll ask you to vote for your favourite.ย  The music with the most votes will then be used at the start of every show.

That’s not the only thing we’ll be covering in the next show, though – but it’s all going to be pretty melodic!

While we’re on a musical theme here’s the credit for today’s tune:

NTVT006 – Compose better images

Sometimes we look at a photograph, or a scene in a movie and it seems to stand out…

…to have a certain something.

In today’s non-techie tip, we’re going to take a look at a very simple trick which will help your images and video scenes stand out, too.

And, once you learn this trick, you’ll spot it being used everywhere ๐Ÿ™‚

I mention a link in this episode where you can go to get free non-techie video tips delivered to your inbox – here’s the link you need: https://elitevideoacademy.com/non-techie-videos/

NTVT005 – Steady now!

Pretty much everyone these days has the equipment they need to make great video sitting right there in their pocket or purse.

It’s small, compact and lightweight – but it can also wobble and shake a lot, which kinda defeats the object of all those tech guys working hard to give us such great image quality.

In today’s episode we look at some simple fixes that can reduce or even eliminate that shake and give us a rock-steady picture.

In other news, this show is now up on iTunes – if you want to listen there, here’s the link you’ll need https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/non-techie-video-tips-ozzy-eyre-your-non-techie-guide/id1294345330 (just trips off the tongue, doesn’t it!) – and while you’re there, you can subscribe to make sure you don’t miss another episode.

NTVT004 – It’s behind you!

While it’s important for you to feel good about being on camera – and that’s what we discussed in the last two episodes – it’s also important to remember that, for most of the time at least, you are not the only thing your viewer will be able to see.

If, however, you are the most important thing in view, it’s necessary to ensure your viewer understands that – so think about what’s in your background.

Broadly, your background can either add to your viewer’s undertanding or distract them, so consider carefully what you allow them to see.ย  If in doubt about whether something is adding or detracting from the viewer’s experience, it’s often better to assume the latter and leave it out.

There are a couple of links I mention in today’s show — the first is my non-techie introduction to video course, Elite Video Creation 101, which you’ll find by clicking here

The second is where you’ll get access to daily free video tips – just leave your details here and I’ll get them mailed to your inbox.

NTVT003 – It’s not you…

Picking up from the last show, in this episode we’re discussing other realisations that should help you get more comfortable on-camera.

And, if you feel more comfortable on camera, you’re likely to make more videos.

And, if you make more videos, you’ll get better at it.

And, if you get better at it, you’ll feel more comfortable.

And, if you feel more comfortable…

The key thing to remember is that the people watching your video are more interested in what they can learn from you than they are in you.ย  Once you realise that, it’s like being set free!

I mentioned a couple of links in today’s show – one was so you could contact me and you can do that at ozzy at elitevideoacademy dot com – alternatively, if you’re seeing this on my site at https://elitevideoacademy.com/non-techie-videos/ntvt003-its-not-you/, just scroll to the bottom of the page and hit ‘contact’.

The other link I mentioned was so you could get Non-Techie Video Tips sent to your inbox daily.ย  Just head over to https://elitevideoacademy.com/non-techie-videos/, leave your details and I’ll do the rest ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t know but I’m guessing today’s music track is going to divide opinion.ย  I love it but I want to know what you think.

NTVT002 – Feel uncomfortable on camera?

Do you feel uncomfortable on camera?

If you do, you’re a long way from being alone!

Most folks feel exactly the same way.

The problem is, that discomfort can get in the way of you creating videos – in fact it can even prevent you from getting started.

So, how about we do something about it together?ย  How about I tell you what little idea helped me deal with being uncomfortable on camera and conquer the procrastination that resulted from that discomfort?
